And the flurry begins. I have so much to do in the next 2 weeks, it's scary.

Thanksgiving was nice. Went to a movie with Mom, as is our Thanksgiving tradition, and saw Bolt. I figured it would be an investment in my pursuits as an animator/artist, but it was surprisingly not bad. Besides, we'd seen Changeling which was great and Australia had gotten less than enthusiastic reviews, so Bolt was our hope for a good movie. Definitely not disappointing. After the movie, we headed to Mill Valley for dinner with the family at the Buckeye Roadhouse. Food was good, ate too much. It was nice to see everyone again and I'm looking forward to another visit at Christmastime.

Eric and I ran around town for Black Friday madness, and had some good luck with Fry's, burritos and Wii brain games. I didn't get as much done for school as I had wanted to and had to make up for it later. Fell when bouldering on Sunday (yeah, it was my first time), which was shocking and embarrassing. Happy to be mostly intact, though it hurt to move my neck/shoulder the next day and I had to get it fixed.

I have a nice laundry list of things to do before school is over, so I'm trying to budget my time and pace myself wisely. I have to:

Finish posing, animating, lighting and rendering my model for 3D animation.
Draw the last 150 panels for story boarding, scan them, crop them and time them.
Upgrade my flash game and/or website and put it on the school server.
Finish the last exercises and quizzes for 3D spatial visualization.
Write the Phi Theta Kappa leadership hallmark essay.
(Semester ends. Breathe a little.)
Make more logo versions for Shelby's wedding.
Draw assets for the game project, post them to the wiki.

I'm probably forgetting some stuff, lots of stuff. I don't know when/if I'll be making Dickens, depends on how my projects go. Want to see people, hang out, make things and finish personal projects and take a little roadtrip maybe.

Preparing to be busy, see y'all in a few weeks.

Still not dead yet.
I feel fine. I feel happy!

School is good, and as always too much to do in too little time. I'm enjoying my classes a lot (in between projects). My 3D modeling and animation class is really interesting, though I think I enjoy modeling more than I like animating. We'll see if it sticks.

I'm down to 2 jobs now instead of 3, which is a welcome relief, but I'm having to stretch my budget impossibly thin to make it work. Bleah.

The b/f and I are still happy campers, which is great.

Don't know if I'll do anything for my birthday, I'm still reeling from the fact that it's already October.

On an October note, I have a Gold Pass to Great America, which means that I get to go the Halloween Haunt for free, with free preferred parking. YAY! Except that I don't know if anyone would want to go with me. =/ I've got some coupons for discounted tickets and, better with notice, I have someone that can get me $25 tickets (as compared with the $40 normal entry cost). So if anyone is interested in tagging along, that could be fun! I tried going by myself and it was, well, sad-making. Much better with friends, so let me know if you want to be that friend. =p The haunt was pretty cool, I'm looking forward to going on Halloween with the K's.

It's been a while since I last posted, so let's recap. The holidays were really, really busy. I was working 4 jobs for a while which got kinda nuts and somehow still didn't get the result I wanted, namely, to be out of debt. Still got a ways to go there, but hopefully by summer I'll be clear. I felt like a big jerk that I couldn't buy people Xmas gifts this year and that I didn't even have time to write out Xmas cards. I was/am still so busy that I even forgot that a friend is getting married in August and was surprised when he wanted to send me an invite. I think my brain must be pushing out the significant personal information in trying to absorb school/work junk. (Sorry Seth, I've since remembered you sharing the news with me.) I suck at this stuff. =/

So, I still have 3 jobs, which is more manageable than it sounds when they're all super part time. My lab job is cutting hours though, so I think I might try to tutor more to compensate if I can find more students. We'll see how that goes, and if it doesn't work out, maybe I'll sell a kidney. Or not.

School has been in session for a few weeks now and I'm enjoying most of my classes, though it frustrates me when teachers teach right out of the book (especially when it's Adobe software and I know how to read, so teach me something I can't find in this book). Flash will probably be my favorite class this semester, though Illustrator promises to be interesting. Dreamweaver is still in the introductory phases and it's frustrating for me to wait for people to catch up since I had some experience with it last semester, but hopefully we'll get to the new stuff soon. Because it's still early in the semester, homework is manageable and my workload is stable. In the back of my head I'm dreading when all my classes will have beefy midterm projects, so the best I can do is stay on top of it now while I can. It's a 15 unit semester, which isn't the worst I've ever done, but with the job thing, it could be tricky.

Eric and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary on Thursday. I bought him a hermit crab, which we have named Destrudo and have since gotten Destrudo a friend, which I have dubbed Davy Jones because he's got a peg leg (he's an amputee). We also got our friend Toni a baby bearded dragon for a super belated Xmas gift/not-so-belated anniversary gift, which she named Dylan. If we get more hermits, perhaps we'll continue with the "D" name theme. Destrudo and Davy are really social, which I hadn't expected, and they're super cute, which I also didn't expect. Maybe it's their anime-ish characteristics, ie. big eyes and no mouth. *shrug* Regardless of why, they're just as cute as they are creepy and we're looking forward for to them getting big enough that they can run around in their hamsterball with ease. Er, crabball with ease.

I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting, but maybe I'll post again later. When I have time.

I have 3 jobs now, soon to be 4 if things work out with scheduling. I'm concurrently working on final projects for school, and soon school will end (the week of the 21st) and the job that goes with it will be suspended til late January. Then I'll be down to 3 jobs. One of them is seasonal to compensate for the loss of the on campus job, so when school starts up again, I'll still have 3 jobs. Yes, I'm crazy. And tired. But I really really really want to be out of debt, so this is what I've chosen to do. Everyone is being really supportive, and somewhat skeptical that I can maintain my sanity, and I think I'll survive. Also, as a result of this madness, people are getting handmade gifts this year, if I have time to make them. =/
I'm determined to make it to Dicken's Faire this Sunday, before work #3 starts in the evening. I'm also going to try making it to the New Years Eve ball again after work #2 or #3 ends (not sure which it'll be yet, they haven't given me the schedule), though I may be tired at both events. Forgive my fatigue, I'm a busy girl.

I'm not dead. Getting over a cold and really busy, but not dead. I miss dancing, fighting, sewing and doing all the fun things that I was doing before school started (yeah, back before when I had time and money), but things are a little difficult at the moment, so a second job is forthcoming. I'm currently a lab assistant at the college I'm at (where I'm studying graphic design, oooo, yay photoshop) and my free time is spent working on homework, toiling at work, or helping Eric with philosophy that induces spontaneous brain combustion. As a second job is necessary and probably will be necessary through the holidays, I'll probably have even less time for all the fun stuff I haven't touched in months. Joy. So, if I haven't seen you in forever and a day, my apologies, I suck at this. But on the upside, this nonsense can't last forever and I should be available again in ... 2008. Hopefully. But, as I spend most of my day in front of a computer, you can email me if I'm truly missed. If I'm not missed, I won't be too broken up about it, so don't worry.

Oh. I was on staff for the E-gaming room, hanging out and helping watch over the gaming equipment with Eric and his buddies Brad, Cheetoh, Robert, Spanky and Matt. Met new cool people, like spritely Justin, and am looking forward to hanging out with these guys again.
Briefly visited Baycon and a few cool people there, but the Marriott's space is so claustrophobic, I couldn't stay long before I had to shoot back down to San Jose anyway.
More to follow. I'm 99% recovered from my sickies, though I still cough sporatically when I lay down and my ribcage/lungs seem really sensitive to pressure. I'm likely to find a respiratory specialist and get checked out, just in case. Note: I take my chest/lung health seriously as I had a spontaneous lung collapse 4 years ago and have been jumpy ever since.
Eric and I went to the opera a few weeks ago in San Jose and saw Madame Butterfly. I was unfamiliar with the story until I realized that I'd seen Miss Saigon some years ago, and that they were in the same boat. Though between the two, I'd take the opera any day. After the opera, I kept thinking of the Invader Zim quote "The pants command me!" may have had inspiration in traditional Japanese noble's clothing....
Eric, his classmate Robin, Brad and I made a zombie movie that Saturday. I did Eric's and Brad's makeup (more original Night of the Living Dead style than anything else) and that was way cool! We wrote the plot/script on the fly, and our zombies liked cookies, if that tells you anything. Eric = Zombie Stud! =D
Went to Gaskell's that Saturday and, although I've only been there a few times, that was the most lightly attended Gaskell's I'd ever seen. Wow....so much space! Christophe and I got in a few good swing moves in the middle of a waltz in the side wing, so awesome!
Had dinner with friends and family that Sunday at Skates in the Berkeley Marina. The dinner was amazingly tastey, the company was great and the atmosphere was wonderful (amazing sunset with the oceanside view, highly recommended).
The following Saturday, we had a birthday get together for Brad at Malibu Grand Prix/Mini Golf/Arcade Castle in Redwood City. After a rousing round of mini golf (I drew pictures in my score box instead of tallying score), Eric and I tested out the bumper boats, promptly giving the presummer heat the finger. There was less bumping than I'd have preferred, but it was still fun (Do NOT take that statement out of the context of bumper boats!) We hit a few homers in the batting cages and played air hockey, and basketball, etc in the arcade. We got enough tickets together to all get minibubbles and blowing bubbles outside in the afternoon sun was magical. Christina and Anna joined us for dinner and dessert at Max's, which was full of Victorian word games and tastey key lime pie, cherry cobbler, chocolate fantasy cake and other treats. So tastey....
I've started constructing my own sword sheath and handle from hard maple with my friend Jan in Berkeley. It promises to be a great experience and I like triggering the memories of middle school shop class.
And now, to shopping, dinner and dancing! Onward!

FNW last week was a blast as usual, and staying up til 5am with Christina, Eric and Anna over cake and tea was especially wonderful. Slept away most of Saturday recovering from aforementioned activities, then took Eric and Christina to the Great Mall for Dave and Busters, which neither of them had really experienced. I gave Patrick his birthday hugs and well wishes, squeezed the lovely and well missed Natalia and then scampered off to explore. We mall crawled for a bit, drooling over cheap shoes and gagging over heinously ugly ones, before resigning to our skee-ball ridden fate. Damn, life is hard when you've got to get your skee-ball fix. We played skee ball til 10:30, I took Stina home and Eric back to Berkeley, and giggled at Mythbuster’s Pirate Special with Christophe. Yarr, tee hee!

Sunday was lunch and hanging out with Travis, D&D with Travis, Alan and Scott, chased by a lazy night with The Muppet Show. So awesome! And thanks to the Barnes and Nobles box set special, Invader Zim shall soon be mine! Oh, yes, there will be doom.

Monday night was spent with Stina gabbing at Denny’s. Tuesday was coffee night, where we were absolutely delighted to have Amy come join us, yay Amy! We then plotted the dessert day that is to come, as well as future group activities. Hehehehe.

Wednesday night was a Bowling for Soup concert in SF with Travis. Considering we only stayed for the first opening band, Quiet Drive, it was a pretty good concert. I hadn’t eaten all day, so food sounded more appealing than waiting til 10pm for Bowling for Soup to come on stage. We had dinner at Max’s, where we were scared away from dessert by the chosen jazz singer as live entertainment. That man needed to stop assaulting the microphone with his tonsils. Yikes. It was a good and mostly sleepless night thereafter and I woke up Thursday to my tardiness and got ready for work in record time. Showered, dressed and ready to go in less than 20 mins, amazing! Not the worst day ever followed, but I really shouldn’t have gotten out of bed that day, it’s true. Got some sewing done last night, though I had to cut is short for being distracted by an unquiet brain. And now it’s Friday, TGIF, and I’m hoping for the best.

Side Note: Considering how much I’m juggling, I’m really enjoying this dating thing. It’s not nearly what I thought it’d be, which is most encouraging. So far I’ve had a great time doing neat things with awesome people and I’m looking forward to further adventures. Huzzah!

Yes, there has been drama and no, I’m not going to discuss it here. I’d much rather recall the awesomeness of dessert day/Christina’s birthday weekend and the cool coffee night that followed.

For last Saturday, we had set up an entire itinerary of events for the day, with (at the peak of the day) 10 people. (Amy, Eric, Kendra, Alan, Christina, Travis, Marc, Anna, Christophe, and myself) I was actually very impressed with how smoothly everything went considering there were 4 destinations, barely enough car space and 10 people. We were on time and no one got lost! Amazing!

We started the day with donuts at Anna’s, then drove up to SF for a group stroll through the Legion of Honor. I had already laid down the disclaimer that, while I have an art history degree, I have a difficult time taking museums seriously. This seemed to be a theme among our group, and we spent just as much time making jokes about the art as we did admiring it. Anna took lots of photos for Trish, who was unable to join us (we’ll get you one day, Woman!) and Kendra started her photo theme of the asses of the Legion. I can totally see that in someone’s scrapbook.

Following the Legion, we went to see Pan’s Labyrinth in downtown SF. This was an interesting movie. I found it just as disturbing, haunting and gorey as it was delicate and moving, an interesting balance. The visuals were just as striking as I still can’t get the Faun and the Cannibal Creature out of my head. I don’t think any of us were expecting to walk out of the theatre so affected by the film, on a number of different levels, so we fixed it with sugar. Lots and lots of sugar.

Piling into our respective vehicles, we made our way to Sweet Inspirations on Market near Castro. I’d been here once before for Travis’ graduation, but remembered that the desserts were really very tasty and pretty. And that they were. We each ordered something different, so we had 10 different sugary confections to sample and share. I wish I remembered what everyone got—I had the blackberry raspberry cassis, Alan had a caramel version (with chocolate and caramel goo at the bottom, drool), there was a pumpkin cheesecake-y thing, a key lime pie (yum!), a carrot cake, a raspberry mousse cake, a chocolate mousse cup/tower thing, a fruit tart, a devil’s food cake, a mango papaya cake (I think) and a bagel. No the bagel was not a dessert. I also got to try a Coke imported from Mexico where they still use real sugar in the soda! It tastes soooo much better than Coke in the US. Now I’m spoiled.

We then went by car and by BART to Friday Night Waltz in Oakland, where we proceeded to dance off a few of the calories we’d accumulated at dessert. I finally got to formally learn the BNP, which I absolutely adore. I heart pivots. And stomping. Stomping good. While the evening didn’t end as happily for me as it had begun, I was still moved to have my friends with me and happy that they had enjoyed the day, even if 2 of them came out bruised from the dance (sorry Kendra and Anna, that was a bad fall! I hope your knees are ok!). Christina’s birthday celebration day had gone swimmingly and she seemed delighted, and that’s all that matters.

Coffee night this past Tuesday was delightful as usual. We missed Amy (you must come next week!) as well as our usual waitress Epi, but we still had a good time. We shared vocabulary trying to solve our now weekly crossword, conversed, giggled, spilled water (ok, only I did that. Three times) and enjoyed each other’s company. I painted a bit while sharing in conversation, which made me happy as I hadn’t painted in weeks. Hooray for keeping up with resolutions! We’re hoping to snag Trish next week as well, so we can have her taxidermied raven mascot preside over us. We think Epi misses him.

And now it’s Friday, TGIF. It was a long, long week and I’m hoping to dance the unpleasant parts away tonight among friends and chase that with a fun weekend.

Quick update. Ok, maybe not so quick.

Current eye color: Blue green with grey highlights
Current song stuck in my head: Cannonball by Damien Rice
Current temperature: Slightly cold

I started feeling the notorious sickies that have been stalking the dance community creep up on me Friday night, which prevented me from dancing as much as I normally like to and it became a short evening. But I'm glad my lack of enthusiasm didn't hold Christina back as she apparently danced until she hurt and then til she was numb, smiling all the while. Something tells me she likes dancing, hmmm. I was cheered by her grins all the way home. Bring better dancing shoes and socks, woman!
Saturday was a blast as I spent the day with Amy running around in San Francisco, fighting traffic, small and scarce parking spots and crowded city streets. The window dressings at Macy's were gorgeous and instantly adorable when you add cute, fluffy animals like kittens and puppies! That reminds me, I have to remember to get my cat a laser pointer for Christmas...
We walked through the SFMoMA giggling at modern art and were thoroughly confused as to how the curator could justify having a mountain bike, coffee maker and toaster on display as art. A toaster. C'mon now, at least Duchamp signed the freakin' urinal whereas I don't think the toaster "artist" interacted with his toaster at all. Mutter mutter mutter stupid modern art mutter mutter mutter....But some of it was actually quite pretty and thought provoking, which was refreshing as I was able to remember a lot of my art history classes (yay, I'm using my degree!), and the company was delightful. We later failed in our pursuit of bubble tea, but found a place to sit and snack in an uber crowded mall, amazing! I took Amy to a cool churrascaria in SF where they bring you meat until you tell them to stop. Then you eat, breathe and then they bring you more meat until you tell them to stop again. It's all you can meat! And such tastey meats, too, they're almost as delicious as the Brazilian waiters! Er, I mean, um....Pineapple! They also bring you grilled pineapple, which was very good and never in large enough quantities. So Saturday was totally awesome and Amy made my day even though I was getting sick, woo hoo! I'm looking forward to dragging her to coffee and dessert day with my people, tee hee!
Sunday was more low key as the sickness began to sink in. I probably shouldn't have been driving and spent much of the day not moving, but not sleeping. I was kinda like a lump that talked with a raspy voice and occasionally said something coherent. I was a lump at IHOP with Christian, a lump at home designing costumes and a lump at Barnes and Nobles keeping my girls company on their breaks. But they paid me in love and hot tea, what more can a girl ask for? Monday and Tuesday were spent not working as I was totally plaguetacular and useless, though I actually got some stuff done last night (go me).
The week has gone by very quickly, but I think it's because I spent most of it sick and sleeping. I'm on the mend, but not quite back up to speed. Many, many thanks to those that took wonderful care of me when I was feeling icky. Whether it was bringing me food, hot tea, keeping me company or letting me take up space on your couch, you watched over me when I was broken and I really appreciate it. I'm blessed to have such wonderful friends.

Hey, where'd my week go?

Current eye color: Green with grey highlights
Current song stuck in my head: Moving into Light by Black Fras
Current temperature: Chilled

Wow, it's Thursday already. How did that happen?
Recap on the weekend and this week so far. Friday night I went with Marc to his mother's corporate holiday party at the Crowne Plaza in Foster City. I wore my blue cocktail dress thingie from the WNTW reveal party, which is always a little wierd since it's a bit too girly for me, but Marc seemed to appreciate my efforts so it was ok. Not the best prime rib ever, but it was free and the company was fun. The salads came with purple orchids, which people were eating and I was totally horrified. So went on an orchid rescue mission and got away with 4 orchids, concealing them under my coffee cup, which I later gave to my girlfriends. I won a raffle, go me, and got to take home a certificate for a pound of See's Candies. *Drool* I danced with Marc and his mother and various other people to music that was popular when I was a wee thing, including Michael Jackson and Vanilla Ice. Ah, nostalgia.
When Marc's mom learned we'd had hopes of making the last set for FNW in the east bay, she unleashed us onto the world with a smile and we raced to Alameda. We got to FNW and I was thrilled to see that Travis, Anna, Christian and Christina had made it intact and were having a lovely time. I think I got off two dances in my dress and uncomfy shoes before I ran screaming into the night in search of my jeans and sneakers. Overjoyed to be back in pants, I danced the last of the set, hugged my friends and chewed on Christian's head. We then went to Denny's in San Mateo for our own mini-afters where we played Victorian alliteration games that we'd learned at DCF and laughed over diner food til 2am.
Following a lengthy sleep, I didn't get moving again until almost 3pm the next day, after which I did some shopping, hung out with people a bit and tried to familiarize myself with Dickens' work. Not the most productive day, but I have no regrets on being lazy occasionally. Sunday Travis and I had breakfast and went to DCF. We spent time at Mad Sal's for the ladies singing saucy songs, which we'd never done before. We laughed a great deal and have resolved to ask about where to get their naughty versions of Christmas carols. I realized that I had been missing out on the fun at Mad Sal's and that there are probably tons of things to do at DCF that I'd never known about because I'm usually either shopping or dancing. Much as I love dancing, I've resolved to try at least 3 new things at Fair before I dance the day away at Fezzi's, among them 1) getting my fortune told 2) tea at Cuthberts 3) throwing boots at cats and other fun stuff. Sunday evening was stressful, but I had a chance to look over a lot of my old artwork and am strengthening my resolve to make something again. There's a burst of creativity coming on, I can feel it.
Monday night, Christian and I plotted dress and corset design for the Camelot ball, swapped lifestories over dinner and found fabric that makes me drool. So pretty....Can't wait to wear it. Tuesday was "coffee night" with the girls and Mike at the Hofbreau in Foster City, where we gorged on tasty meats and that pound of See's I'd won on Friday. Sweet goodness of friends and chocolate. We've resolved to all go to the Camelot Ball and are going to ring in the New Year as a family. As it should be, dammit!
Last night was visiting the Camel of Love in San Francisco and sharing good company over a table of pupusas. Braving the rain for the jolliness of my favorite Camel, I heart Seth! Happy Early Birthday to Seth, I'll wish you well again on Saturday!
I'm a little sore this morning, like I've been wrestling bears or something, but am a happy girl nonetheless. I'll be going to Santa Cruz tonight, hopefully sewing and probably attending FNW tomorrow. Weekend of impending awesomeness approaches....

On the previously posted meme, there was a question that I didn't know how to answer, so I'm asking for your input. The one regarding what the title of a book about my life would be. I'm drawing a blank here, so any guesses? What would you name a book about me if you could name it anything at all? I'm curious how someone could sum up a person in a book title and I'll be tickled to see what you come up with.
